Performing a Self Test after the Initial

Power-Up

One of the quickest methods to check the ports and the hub is to run a self test.

Self test will check those ports with active loop devices connected. For

example, to check all 12 ports, you will need to have active loop devices

connected to all 12 ports. See Chapter 2, “Overview of Installing the Compaq

StorageWorks Fibre Channel Storage Hub12,” for cabling instructions.

1. If the hub is not powered up, plug the AC power cord into the hub, then

into a grounded AC outlet. If the hub is powered up, press the Reset

Button on the rear of the unit. The unit will run self test, which lasts 15

to 60 seconds. The unit passes self test if the Power LED turns green

and the Fault LED turns off.

CAUTION: Resetting the hub disrupts the network, which can impact

performance. This will not normally corrupt data on disk drives attached to the

hub.
